Summary
This Shiva temple, enclosed by a compound wall, contains a three-tiered vimana, sanctum, ardhamandapa , mukha mandapa , Nandi mandapa, and shrines for Dakshinamurthy, Murugan, and Vinayagar. The temple is identified as a Shiva temple built by the later Pandya kings, as evidenced by the 13th century inscriptions found here. Several inscriptions are present within the temple complex; however, due to modifications made during renovations, it is difficult to fully comprehend the details provided in the inscriptions. One inscription mentions the name "Arulaala Perumal," suggesting that there may have been a Perumal (Vishnu) temple in the vicinity as well.
